Hume Coal Apprenticeship Program

Hume Coal is aware of the need to improve the skills base within Wingecarribee Shire and has established the Apprenticeship Program to provide training, support and development to enable local people to gain valuable skills to set them on the path to success.

Annual funding up to $250,000 supports the placement of apprentices and trainees in local businesses to support skilled and economic growth. Under the program, Australian Apprenticeships (often referred to as apprenticeships or traineeships) are available to anyone of working age. There is no need to have a secondary school certificate or other qualifications. You can begin an Australian Apprenticeship if you are leaving or have left school, are re-entering the workforce as an adult or simply wish to change careers.

Our local Apprenticeship Network provider, 1300apprentice, will assess your suitability for an apprenticeship through the Charitable Foundation.

Hume Coal has helped find local people apprenticeships and traineeships in child care, landscaping, electrical services, building, sign writing and mechanical engineering. The funding from Hume Coal has allowed local business owners, like Simon Weston of Southern Highland Signs, find and afford highly competent apprentices like Peter.

We also encourage local businesses to contact 1300apprentice if they are looking to host a sponsored apprentice or trainee.

You can apply for an apprenticeship or traineeship position at any time throughout the year. If you have an interest in one of the following industries or businesses, Hume Coal would love to hear from you:

  • Engineering
  • Child Care
  • Construction
  • Electrical Trades
  • Metal Trades
  • Landscaping
  • Business/Administration
