POSCO, through its Australian company, has invested $4.6 billion in coal and iron ore projects in NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. In 2018-2019 alone, POSCO purchased over $8 billion (US$5.2 billion) of Australian resources, making it the largest single private customer of Australian exports. In addition, POSCO, through Hume Coal, is ready to invest a further $922 million to support the employment of 400 people in construction, 300 in operation, earning some $925 million in wages over the life of the mine.
