Increased opportunity for comment as additional community info sessions are announced

Hume Coal was delighted by the level of support and attendance at its recent Mereworth community information sessions, that the company has announced additional information sessions.

Company spokesperson Ben Fitzsimmons said that the company was pleased with the level of attendance at the community information sessions, with many spending considerable time browsing the various information booths and discussing the project with Hume Coal staff and experts.

“It really was a great opportunity to have our air quality, acoustics and groundwater experts available to have one-on-one discussions with residents, and address their concerns in detail.

“It also allowed the community to visit Mereworth and see for themselves the project setting and how the mine’s surface infrastructure had been designed to integrate into the existing landscape.”

Given the success of the weekend, Hume Coal has announced additional mid-week and weekend information sessions.

Mr Fitzsimmons encouraged that all members of the community come along to what is a great opportunity to learn more about the project, what it means for you and what it means for your community.

The additional sessions will be held at Mereworth on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 7 June – 10:00am to 3:00pm
  • Thursday 8 June – 10:00am to 3:00pm
  • Thursday 15 June – 10:00am to 3:00pm
  • Sunday 25 June – 10:00am to 4:00pm
