Hume Coal will be holding several rounds of community information sessions during the exhibition period of the environmental impact statement.
Ben Fitzsimmons said that this was the first round of community information sessions which form part of Hume Coal’s extensive consultation program during the environmental impact statement public exhibition period.
“Given that Hume Coal has been granted an exhibition period of 90 days, we see the first round of community information sessions as providing the community an early opportunity to meet and discuss their concerns with staff and experts, and to learn more about the benefits of the project for our community.”
Further community information sessions will be held toward the end of the exhibition period, which will have allowed the community more time to review and analyse the EIS studies and findings.
The first round of information sessions will be held at the Mittagong RSL and will commence on Friday 21 April from 12:00pm – 7:00pm and continue on Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
All those looking to attend the information session are encouraged to register their interest online at www.humecoal.com.au/events

Hume Coal published the dates of its first round of community information sessions on the 31 March 2017. Since this date, the community information sessions have been advertised across a range of media such as print, radio and social media.
The NSW government sets the exhibition period of the environmental impact statement, which is this case is 90 days, three times the length of a standard exhibition period.
Mittagong RSL was selected as an appropriate location as it has the most suitable facilities, adequate parking capacity and was a central location for the whole Southern Highlands community.
