Hume Coal Charitable Foundation

The vision of the Foundation is to care for and make a significant difference to the community of the Wingecarribee Shire, and to provide opportunities to improve life outcomes.

Three of the four Directors of the Foundation are valued and respected members of the local community and are in no way associated with the company. This ensures that the decisions made by the Foundation about the allocation of funding are in the next interests of the local community.

Each year the Foundation provides around $400,000 in funding, in two funding rounds:

  • Round 1: Closes on 30th July each year
  • Round 2: Closes on 1st November each year

The funding focus is on education, indigenous programs and not-for-profit pre-school child care.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Foundation has provided valuable funding to various individuals and charities including, Challenge Southern Highlands – in particular providing training to assist people living with a disability at Welby Garden Centre, Mission Australia’s Triple Care Farm – which helps young people recover from mental health issues, suicide and trauma, and Interchange Australia – who provide care and support to enable people to live independently.
